  • Bogor Daily Report, Feb 15, 2010 (Night Shift)
    Dear All,

    We completed all the observation successfully, on the 18Z observation maximum elevation was 20,806 km and buoyancy speed 301,34 m/min, weather condition cloudy (8/8). On the 00Z observation, weather condition was cloudy (7/8), and maximum elevation was 23,792 km, buoyancy speed 301,16 m/min.

  • Serang Sounding Report - Feb 13 (Nighttime Duty)
    Dear all,

    Selamat pagi.

    We have performed all launches successfully. It was rainy just one hour before midnight. However, the rain stopped several minutes before 18 UTC, and we could continue the observation. In the morning, the weather was finally fine and the wind was calm, thus the balloon flew overhead at 00 UTC launch. All sonde reached maximum altitude around 21km.

    We didn't meet any major trouble during the observation.

    18 UTC :
    - launched at 00:25 LST, ended at 01:37 LST (SE)
    - maximum altitude of 20.9km
    - the weather was overcast, 7 oktas (Cu, St)

    00 UTC :
    - launched at 06:25 LST, ended at 07:40 LST (overhead)
    - maximum altitude of 21.7km
    - the weather was fine, 2 oktas (Ci, As, Ac)

    Anyway, it was my final duty (and report) for this IOP and i want to thank you for all support, guide, trust and invaluable experience during the observation period.

  • Bogor Daily Report on Feb 13, 2010 (Day Shift)
    Dear All,

    We finished 2 times launching successfully, with detail report as below:

    - 06Z
    Maximum Elevation: 24,112 km.
    Weather Condition: Rain (8/8).
    Buoyancy Speed: 294,05 m/min.

    We changed the transmitter because we couldn't got wind data almost 15 min, but we tried to use it again at 12Z observation and successfully got the data.

    - 12Z
    Weather Condition: Cloudy (7/8).

    Water sampling 06Z dan 12Z. Today we get 4 sets of sonde transmitter from Karawang.

    Dear all,

    I attached animation of CDR CAPPI image (2km) on Feb 12 2010, starting at 11:00 LST - 23:54 LST. As you could see, there was a heavy thunderstorm above Bogor area in the late afternoon (15-18 LST). Even though the rain had finally stopped around 20 LST, water overflow continued to reach Depok, Bekasi and Jakarta on Feb 13, at 2-3 LST and caused floods in several places in Jabodetabek area.

    We have performed 06 and 12 UTC launching successfully today. The air was hot and the weather mostly cloudy for the whole day.

    06 UTC :
    - launched at 12:47 LST, ended at 13:57 LST (SE)
    - maximum altitude of 20.3km
    - the weather was cloudy, 5 oktas

    12 UTC :
    - launched at 18:27 LST, ended at 19:18 LST (NW)
    - maximum altitude of 18.7km
    - the weather was overcast, 8 oktas (Cu, Cb)

    We have already received spare transmitters from Mori-san yesterday, so in total, we have 5 spare sonde now.

    Dear All,

    We completed 2 times launch last night successfully.
    - At 12Z observation, maximum elevation was 20,134 km, Hattori-san and Balitklimat staff launched in the heavy rain with thunderstorm, but observation was completed. Buoyancy speed 288 m/min. They changed the transmitter because the wind data not coming. But we used again the transmitter for 00Z observation on Feb 12, 2010.
    - 18Z observation also completed successfully. Maximum elevation 21,013 km, and buoyancy speed 272,9 m/min. Weather condition fine (5/8).
    - Feb 12, 2010, at 00Z observation, weather condition fine (4/8), maximum elevation 21,698 km, with buoyancy speed 281,79 m/min.

  • Serang Sounding Report : Feb 11 (nighttime duty)
    Dear all,

    Selamat pagi.

    We have launched radiosondes for 18 UTC and 00 UTC successfully. The only problem we faced was a malfunction transmitter during ground check for 18 UTC. The Pressure difference is too large (more than 2 hPa) and GC-25 rejected the transmitter, so we have to change it with the new one. Hence, we have only 1 transmitter spare remaining for Serang observation.
    The weather was fine, almost without clouds (1/8) and the surface wind was suprisingly calm (0 and 0.1 m/s, for each launch respectively). Both ballons flew overhead.

    18 UTC :
    - launched at 00:34 LST, ended at 01:40 LST
    - maximum altitude of 21.1km
    - the weather was fine, 1 okta (Ci, As)

    00 UTC :
    - launched at 06:30 LST, ended at 07.44 LST
    - maximum altitude of 19.9km
    - the weather was fine, 1 okta (Ci, Cs, As)

Plan Position Indicator (PPI) adalah tampilan radar yang paling umum dikenal. Pada PPI, antena radar umumnya direpresentasikan sebagai titik pusat di layar, sehingga jarak dari titik pusat dan ketinggian dari atas permukaan tanah dapat digambarkan sebagai lingkaran konsentris. Pada saat antena berotasi, suatu jejak radial pada sapuan PPI akan disesuaikan dengan titik pusatnya.

Radar antenna mengirimkan sinyal pada saat berotasi 360 derajat dan dapat mengubah sudut serta mengulang rotasinya (elevasi dan azimuth) sesuai dengan kebutuhan. Sinyal pantul dari target akan diterima oleh antena dan diproses oleh penerima. Tampilan langsung dari proses inilah yang disebut sebagai PPI.
